Zensuiji is a peaceful, forested temple nestled into the hills of Konan, offering a deep sense of calm and historical significance. Founded in the 8th century and rebuilt during the Kamakura period, its Hondō (main hall) is a designated National Treasure—an exquisite example of medieval Japanese Buddhist architecture. The temple is named after a “zen sui” (pure water) spring that flows behind the main hall and is believed to have healing properties. The grounds are shaded by cedar and maple trees, making it especially beautiful during fall foliage.
