A lively izakaya that combines classic Japanese cuisine with contemporary influences.

MK Guide Recommends

Now this is a spot that feels like it could exist only in Osaka, thanks to the spirit that infuses it. The New World Osaka is a Michelin-recognized izakaya tucked into the basement of the hip Parco Department Store, awash in neon and buzzing with life.

The shop's entire philosophy centers on “increasing the denominator of happiness,” with the goal of "delivering an emotional dining experience". They even have detailed charts outlining their philosophy on the website, the kind that look like a high-level math classroom chalkboard. Once you taste the food, you realize the same obsessive attention to detail carries straight into the kitchen.

This place puts it all on the table: some of the best miso soup you’ll ever slurp, succulent eggplant that will completely change how you see vegetables, and rich wagyu beef for the carnivores. Choose the assorted platter and make it a full culinary experience.

Like I always say, an izakaya with friendly, smiling staff is an izakaya. One that isn’t is an imposter. And with happiness as their core philosophy, the staff here absolutely radiates joy. Whether you’re with friends, on a date, or flying solo looking for a friend or a date, this loud, boisterous spot is best paired with a crisp lemon chu-hai.
