A unique observatory designed to resemble a tree, offering panoramic views and immersive natural experiences atop Mount Rokko.
MK Guide Recommends
At the summit of Mount Rokko, this observatory features a conceptual design by Hiroshi Sanbuichi, recipient of the Japan Architecture Grand Prize. The concept is “a mighty tree standing atop Mount Rokko,” though it feels more like the inner workings of the Matrix breaking through the firmament. From above, the million-dollar view of the Kobe metropolitan skyline stretches below, romantic and unmissable. Additional art installations across the grounds are designed to evoke emotion, including a cable car that carries visitors up and down the mountain.
