A peaceful mountaintop garden featuring over 1,500 species of alpine and cold-climate plants from Japan and around the world.

MK Guide Recommends

Perched 865 meters above sea level on the cool, misty slopes of Mount Rokko, the Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden provides a peaceful escape from the city and a rare opportunity to explore high-altitude plant life from around the world. Opened in 1933, this historic garden features winding paths that guide visitors through carefully arranged zones of alpine flowers, subarctic shrubs, and wetland ecosystems. From rhododendrons in spring to fiery foliage in autumn, seasonal displays change the landscape throughout the year. Informational plaques, tranquil benches, and gentle mountain breezes make this an ideal spot for leisurely walks or quiet reflection. The garden also includes a small alpine museum and gift shop. A short walk from the Mount Rokko Cable Car station, it pairs perfectly with nearby attractions like GREENIA or the Rokko Garden Terrace.
