Tucked away in a quiet residential corner of Bunkyo, Nezu Shrine is one of Tokyo’s oldest and most picturesque spiritual sites. Said to have been founded nearly two millennia ago, the current buildings date to 1706 and remain remarkably intact, featuring intricate wood carvings and brilliant lacquer in the Edo-period Gongen-zukuri style.
