Since 1885, Mouriya has handled Kobe beef with a level of devotion that borders on the transcendent. This is the Honten, the original main shop where it all began, located in Kobe’s Sannomiya district. No matter which Mouriya location you visit, you are in for a meat experience bordering on the divine, but there is something special about coming to the source itself. Chefs select only the highest-quality cuts from the Tajima cattle lineage, raised in carefully controlled environments that preserve the integrity of true Kobe beef. The taste has been perfected over generations, unchanged and unmistakable. Dining here feels like a ritual tied to the city’s identity. This should probably have a Michelin star, but honestly, it deserves something better. We’ll give it an MK star.
