Stroll along the captivating trails of Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, where tall bamboo stalks foster a peaceful, magical ambiance.

MK Guide Recommends

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is a well-known walking path through a dense bamboo stand in western Kyoto’s Arashiyama area. The short, level route runs between Tenryu-ji Temple and the northern edge of the district, with tall bamboo forming a narrow corridor that filters light and sound. While often crowded during the day, the grove is best experienced early in the morning, when movement is slower and the scale of the bamboo is easier to register. Rather than a destination in isolation, it functions as a connective passage linking river, temple, and hillside, and is most naturally visited as part of a broader walk through Arashiyama.
